Free School Meals - Pupil Premium

Do you qualify?

Parents/guardians who receive any of the following benefits are entitled to Free School Meals:-

Income Support (IS)
Employment and Support Allowance (income related)
Child Tax Credit without Working Tax Credit with an annual taxable income (as assessed by HMR&C) of less than £16,190
Income based Jobseeker's Allowance (IBJSA)
Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
Support under Part V1 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

If you have recently become unemployed but are still receiving Working Tax Credits, you may be entitled to Free School Meals for a four week period only, please call the My Devon telephone number 0845 155 1019 for advice.

How does it work?

First check if you qualify - it is not just if you are unemployed, so please look at the list.  Registering is quick and easy - if you think you qualify, contact Devon County Council who will help you register.  If you want your child to have a free, healthy meal at lunchtime that's great they will get the free meal (saving you more than £350 a year) and the school receives £623.   If you don't want your child to have the school meals they can continue with their packed lunch as normal - as long as you qualify and register, the school still gets £623.  (Qualifying for free school meals will not affect any other benefits you are claiming).  If you are already in receipt of free school meals, you will continue to do so.

To find out more:
