PHYSICAL EDUCATION IN EYFS
Physical Development - Moving and Handling
Physical Education in the EYFS at Kingsacre is central to supporting children’s health, confidence, and coordination. Through topic-based and play-led learning, children develop their fine and gross motor skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Our children are encouraged to move in different ways - running, jumping, balancing, climbing, and dancing - while also learning control and spatial awareness. They explore how their bodies move and begin to understand the importance of keeping active and healthy.
Both indoor and outdoor spaces are equipped with engaging resources to support physical exploration. Obstacle courses, climbing equipment, bikes, and large construction materials inspire movement, teamwork, and problem-solving. Fine motor activities such as threading, cutting, and mark-making also strengthen control and dexterity.
At Kingsacre, we encourage children to enjoy being active and to persevere when learning new skills. They develop coordination, balance, and strength, as well as confidence and a positive attitude towards physical activity. Through movement, children build resilience, independence, and joy in their achievements.
