COMPUTING IN EYFS

Computing in the EYFS at Kingsacre introduces children to technology in meaningful, age-appropriate ways. Through exploration and play, children begin to understand how technology can be used to find out information, create, and communicate.

Children learn to operate simple equipment such as tablets, interactive whiteboards, and programmable toys. They develop early problem-solving skills and an understanding of cause and effect through hands-on digital experiences.

The classroom environment provides opportunities for children to explore technology safely and with curiosity. Teachers model responsible use and guide discussions about how technology helps us in everyday life.

At Kingsacre, children begin to recognise the role technology plays in their world. They learn to use it thoughtfully, creatively, and safely, building confidence and understanding that will support their digital literacy as they progress through school.

Children will achieve the following Early Learning Goals:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development: Promotes collaboration and confidence in using technology.
  • Communication and Language: Encourages discussion of ideas and instructions for digital tasks.
  • Mathematics: Supports sequencing, logic, and problem-solving.
  • Physical Development: Develops fine motor skills through device and tool use.
  • Creative Development: Encourages creativity through digital drawing, coding, and multimedia.
